🧵 HOW YOUR RUG IS MADE — FULL ARTISAN PROCESS (same long style as reference, rewritten uniquely)

1. Wool Selection & Cleaning

The process starts by choosing clean, high-quality wool. It is washed thoroughly to remove impurities and then sun-dried for two to three days to retain natural softness and breathability.

2. Carding & Wool Spinning

Artisans comb the wool manually using wooden carders to align the fibers. The carded wool is then spun into yarn using a hand-operated spinning wheel, allowing the yarn thickness to be customized for each design.

3. Dyeing the Yarn

The wool yarn is dyed using colorfast, eco-friendly dyes. After dyeing, the yarn is dried naturally to set the shades and ensure long-lasting color that does not fade easily.

4. Pattern Designing

The design is drawn first on plain sheets, then transferred onto graph paper for precise placement. This grid acts as a weaving map for the artisans who follow it line-by-line to maintain integrity in the pattern.

5. Weaving on a Loom

The loom is prepared with warp threads (vertical yarn). Wool and jute weft threads are interwoven manually, constructing the pattern row by row. This method requires deep concentration, symmetry control, and extensive handwork. Depending on the size, multiple artisans may work on the rug simultaneously.

6. Washing & Crimping

After weaving, the rug is washed gently to remove loose fibers and bring uniformity to the surface. The water process also tightens the weave and smooths out the texture.

7. Clipping & Edge Reinforcement

Loose ends are trimmed, borders are stitched securely, and the rug edges are reinforced to prevent early fraying. This adds structural stability and a polished finish.

8. Final Sun Drying

The rug is laid out under bright sunlight for its final drying. Natural heat strengthens the fibers, enhances texture, and prepares the rug for long-term use.

This entire process can involve 15–25 artisans working together, ensuring every piece reaches its highest handmade quality.
